Labor Temple a history landmark (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/rs-status-Leg_Final.pdf\">rs-status Leg Final). After four years of work the Redstone Tenants Association&#8217;s dream of obtaining historic status had come true. \u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Copy-of-2004-9-7-90th-RTA-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-606\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Copy-of-2004-9-7-90th-RTA-2-1024x834.jpg\" alt=\"Copy of 2004-9-7-90th-RTA-2\" width=\"940\" height=\"766\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Copy-of-2004-9-7-90th-RTA-2-1024x834.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Copy-of-2004-9-7-90th-RTA-2-300x244.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Copy-of-2004-9-7-90th-RTA-2-368x300.jpg 368w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Copy-of-2004-9-7-90th-RTA-2.jpg 1661w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The idea of getting historic status started in late 1999 after an attempt to buy the building by a wealthy Dallas millionaire expressed interest in turning the building into a computer data server center.\u00a0 After a couple of meetings a $2,000 grant proposal was won by March of 2000 that started the process.<\/p>\n<p>Betty Traynor, the RTA&#8217;s president would walk <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/rs-status-LM238.pdf\">Proposal-LM238<\/a> through the city&#8217;s complex process starting with the Landmark Board in May 2003.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-31-7-cake.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-609\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-31-7-cake-1024x648.jpg\" alt=\"2004-31-7-cake\" width=\"940\" height=\"595\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-31-7-cake-1024x648.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-31-7-cake-300x190.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-31-7-cake-474x300.jpg 474w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-31-7-cake.jpg 1384w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In August of 2004, the tenants would hold a 90th birthday party for the building, as well as celebrate the historic status with a spectacular bash.\u00a0 The highlight of the event came when the Labor Council&#8217;s Secretary Treasurer Walter Johnson presented the <a href=\"http:\/\/noehill.com\/sf\/landmarks\/sf238.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Historic Landmark &#8211; Number 238<\/a> &#8211; to Betty Traynor and Roger Herried.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-event-13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-608\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-event-13.jpg\" alt=\"2004-event 13\" width=\"853\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-event-13.jpg 853w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-event-13-300x169.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.rlta.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/2004-event-13-500x281.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 853px) 100vw, 853px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On January 8th 2004 the San Francisco&#8217;s\u00a0 Board of Supervisors voted to make the Redstone Building, formerly known as the S.F.
